Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for the treatment of bipolar depression

TMS is an effective treatment option in depressive episodes in patients with major depressive disorder. However, the antidepressant efficacy of TMS in bipolar depression is poorly investigated.

This study aims to investigate the clinical efficacy of TMS as an add-on treatment in bipolar depression. Aside from the effects of TMS on depressive mood symptoms, we will investigate the effects on cognitive and psychomotor symptoms, which are frequent and disabling co-occurring symptoms in bipolar disorder.
