Borderline personality subtypes based on temperament, their validation and treatment trajectory

We developed a clinical study in order to identify subtypes of borderline personality disorder based on reactive and regulative temperament. We validated the 4 clusters based on the association with clinical symptoms, comorbid personality disorders and coping strategies. Next to this, we investigated the emotional processes of these subtypes. A follow-up during the treatment allowed us to investigate how the subtypes differ during the treatment. In the future, these data will be taken up in the development of personalized treatment for borderline personality disorder in the clinical practice.
